This
paper suggests a practical step by step methodology for designing business
processes so that they can be quickly automated using the BEA Web Logic platform
via the PA: Fusion with BEA gateway.
The
paper begins with how to best identify candidates for automation, build
the business case, capture high level requirements, design
future state, and finally transform the ProActivity detailed logical design
into a WLI
Java Process Definition (JPD) file for native use within Workshop.
Large organizations typically perform a Proof-Of-Concept / Pilot
with an enterprise process analysis tool, before expanding
use of such a tool. Such pilots may last from one to two business
weeks, and are intended to verify vendor claims and compare
actual features / benefits of the vendor's solution with the
organization's expectations and needs. In many of these pilots
customer organizations are eager to expose their staff directly,
to as much of the actual use of the tools, as possible.

At its root, Six Sigma is about making money and increasing profitability. Six Sigma is designed to enable the enterprise to achieve higher margins, increase capacity, reduce overhead, and decrease capital requirements. It is a methodology and a problem solving discipline - a new approach to manage and execute business processes with a focus on economic value and practical utility for the company and its customers.
This paper illustrates how ProActivity can be deployed as a process framework for Six Sigma initiatives, to accelerate and simplify Six Sigma efforts.
